The new Freehouse Brewery celebrated their opening in Minneapolis Saturday. The business finally got their brewery permit from the Treasury Department after about a month delay. Beer lovers from around the area made their way to Brooklyn Center Saturday for the sixth annual Darkness Day. The free event is put on by Surly Brewing Company to release their Russian imperial stout beer, Darkness. People from around the country camped out overnight to get their hands on the beer. Chris Bly came all the way from Indianapolis, Ind. to savor the stout. “It’s one of the best dark imperial stouts around,” Bly said. “Can’t-miss thing in the Midwest.”
