A tornado touched down in Swift County near Benson, Minn. on Thursday afternoon. Swift County Sheriff John Holtz says a trained weather spotter first saw the tornado just after 4 p.m.
Authorities said operations have returned to normal after officials said a Kindergarten student came to school with a gun on Tuesday in Benson. The Benson School District, working with Benson Police and the Swift County Sheriff’s Office, received a report of a firearm on the premises at about 8:05 a.m. at Northside Elementary School.
It could have been any school in the country, but Northside Elementary in tiny Benson, Minn. — west of Willmar, about 2.5 hours from Minneapolis — came in first in the Give With Target contest, nabbing a $10,000 prize.
