The Minnesota Vikings may face a different quarterback and offense in Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins than it has all season long. The Redskins utilize Griffin’s running ability by using an option scheme. Griffin’s rushing total on the season is just 58 yards less than the other five starting quarterbacks the Viking have faced this season combined.
The Minnesota Vikings received a big boost as star running back Adrian Peterson returned just nine and a half months after tearing his ACL. Peterson not only returned, but started and received the bulk of the carries. However, the hero of the game for the Vikings was rookie kicker Blair Walsh, who made a 55-yard field as time expired to send the game to overtime. He then added the game-winning on the opening drive of the extra period.
