A man was sentenced in Hubbard County for drag racing while drunk after an incident that left a woman severely injured.
A man faces several charges in Hubbard Co. after a drag racing incident left one woman seriously injured. Mitchell Lee Dirks was charged with six criminal counts, including criminal vehicle operation involving great bodily harm to another and several alcohol related charges.
An alleged drunk driver who struck and killed a bicyclist Monday night was charged Friday with criminal vehicular homicide. According to the Hennepin County Attorney’s office, John Iverson, 49, faces up to 10 years in prison after killing 26-year-old Marcus Nalls with his van. Witnesses say Iverson sped west down Franklin Avenue Monday night when he suddenly swerved towards the curb, hit Nalls off of his bike and then ran him over. According to the criminal complaint, Iverson continued driving down the block until his van stopped after hitting a dumpster.
A 47-year-old St. Paul man was charged Friday in Washington County in connection with a Lake Elmo crash that severely injured two young women. Washington County Attorney Pete Orput said Jon Ross Wentz faces eight felonies of criminal vehicular operation causing great bodily harm involving negligence, blood alcohol and controlled substances in his system.
A Chaska man shot his left index finger in a drunken slumber, according to Chaska Police. Chief Scott Knight says the man fell asleep with a loaded handgun in his bed last month before a bad dream caused him to awake and accidentally shoot his left trigger finger.
