A Twin Cities girl is overcoming incredible odds in her recovery after she was nearly killed by a stray bullet. In November of 2010, Guadalupe Galeno-Hernandez was caught in the cross fire of a shooting. A bullet severed her spinal cord and became lodged near her throat.
In November 2010, 12-year-old Guadeloupe Galeno-Hernandez was paralyzed after being hit by a stray bullet in the throat, which severed her spine. She spent a month at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, and then six months at St. Paul’s Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.
A Minneapolis mother who lost nearly everything she owned in a deadly fire on Valentine’s Day is getting back on her feet thanks to the community. The Valentine’s Day blaze destroyed Latonya Garret’s apartment, and killed five children in the apartment above it.
