Boys State Basketball Tournament
Rushford-Peterson beat Maranatha Christian Academy 51-44 in the Class 1A boys basketball championship game Saturday at the Target Center. Alex Vix scored a game-high 23 points and fellow senior Charlie Krambeer added 17 for Rushford-Peterson.
It’s been more than 40 years since the Melrose Minnesota “Dutchmen” have played in the Boys State High School Basketball Tournament. But they’ll take on Redwood Valley at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Target Center.
Esko, DeLaSalle and Lakeville North have returned to the boys state basketball tournament to defend titles. The tournament begins Wednesday at Target Center and Williams Arena, the 19th year of the four-class format.
This week, Target Center and Williams Arena take center stage as 32 teams from four classes try to do whatever it takes to play for a state championship in boys basketball. The state tournament will have one noticeable absence in Apple Valley, ranked No. 1 in the state for most of the season.
