The Minnesota State Fair has finished with an all-time attendance record within reach. Officials will weigh fairgoers’ tickets on Tuesday to determine the total attendance for the 12-day Great Minnesota Get-Together.
The Minnesota State Fair is always a popular place to spend Labor Day weekend. But this last weekend was one for the record books. More than quarter million people came through the gates on Saturday, setting a one day all-time record.
After travelling a single block at the Minnesota State Fair, it’s clear “The Great Minnesota Get-Together” is a gathering meant for all. Brienna Schuette, the Minnesota State Fair’s marketing and communication director, says they make changes every year to insure increased accessibility.
The dress rehearsals and the finishing touches were being taken care of Wednesday night, because Thursday morning it’s back to business at the Minnesota State Fair. Bill Mayfield and his crew from Indiana spent the day pumping out taffy on a machine that’s nearly as old as the Fair itself. He’s working his 7th State Fair this year for Sutter’s Taffy.
The Minnesota State Fair can be an expensive outing, but with a little planning you can make a dollar stretch and still have a good time.
It’s over. The great Minnesota Get Together of 2013 is history. And history was made there Sunday: 236,197 people attended.
Day four of the Minnesota State Fair is going to be a hot one. More than 100 people have been treated so far due to the scorching heat.

You could argue that a $12 (full-price) adult ticket to the Minnesota State Fair provides more entertainment than a movie ticket. Or you could argue that it costs a lot of money.

On day 10 of the State Fair more than 1.1 million people visited the Great Minnesota Get Together.
