The Minnesota Vikings play their last game of the season Sunday against the Chicago Bears at TCF Bank Stadium. The Bears are one game behind the Vikings in the NFC North Division standings and would move out of the cellar with a victory. They have lost four straight games overall and three consecutive on the road.
The Chicago Bears selected Arizona running back Ka’Deem Carey and traded up in the fourth round to pick Minnesota safety Brock Vereen on Saturday. Carey was chosen with the 17th pick of the fourth round, 117th overall, and Vereen was 131st.
The University of Minnesota announced Monday it will host a pro day workout for athletes getting ready for the NFL Draft in May. The event will be held March 3 at the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex, where the Gophers football team practices during its season.
The season opener is always a special game. When Minnesota visits UNLV on Thursday night, the game will hold even more significance for Golden Gophers safety Brock Vereen and his family.
Now it’s the Big 10 season, which means the 1-3 Gophers can achieve a lot for their program if they can at least be competitive on Saturday against the Wolverines. It’s the battle for the Little Brown Jug in front of more than 100,000 fans.
