An 8-year-old boy riding a scooter in New Germany, Minn., on Friday night died after a car hit him, police say. The Carver County Sheriff Department responded to call of a child struck by a vehicle at 8:24 p.m. in the area of State Avenue and Monroe Street in the town located an hour west of Minneapolis. Investigators say 8-year-old Lorenzo Cotto was riding a scooter in the street in front of his relative’s house when he was hit.
Roseville Police have identified the two men involved in a murder-suicide that happened Thursday afternoon. Police say 44-year-old Cheng Vang from Roseville shot and killed his wife’s co-worker – 33-year old Joseph Yang from Brooklyn Park – before turning the gun on himself. The incident happened at 4:15 p.m. in the parking lot of CPI Card Group in the 1900 block of West County Road B2, where Cheng’s wife, Yong Vang, worked with Yang.
An overnight shooting in Brooklyn Park left one man dead. Both Brooklyn Park police and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at the 6200 block of Winnetka Avenue at 2 a.m. Saturday.
Two men suspected of stealing checks, cash and gift cards from wedding receptions in the north metro have been charged with theft. Derrick Duane Manson, 41, and Aaron Ray Martin, 40, both face one felony count of theft, according to documents filed in Anoka County. If convicted, the accused could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine.
