Santana Homers To Lead Cleveland Past Minnesota

Carlos Santana homered among his season high-tying four hits and Danny Salazar won in his first start in more than two months as the Cleveland Indians beat the Minnesota Twins 8-2 Tuesday night. Cleveland won for the fourth time in six games since the All-Star break. Minnesota has lost four of five.

Twins Go Out On Sour Note With 5-1 Loss To Indians

After the Minnesota Twins fumbled, stumbled and whiffed their way through one last miserable defeat in a season full of them, many of the players walked up to manager Ron Gardenhire to give him one last handshake or hug. They had to do it on Sunday, because they know they may not get another chance. The Twins committed three errors and struck out 16 times in a 5-1 loss to the Cleveland Indians in the season finale, a game that could mark the end of Gardenhire’s 12-year tenure in Minnesota.

Hendriks Loses Again As Twins Fall 7-2

Carlos Santana and Jason Kipnis hit two-run homers, Zach McAllister won his third straight start and the Cleveland Indians defeated the Minnesota Twins 7-2 on Saturday night. The win moved the Indians into third place in the crowded American League wild card race. Santana’s two-run homer in the first got the Indians off to a quick start. Kipnis, who snapped an 0 for 19 skid with a first-inning single, homered in the third. Both home runs came off starter Liam Hendriks (0-2), who has lost 12 of his 13 career decisions.
