Woman Gives Birth In Car In Carlton Co.

A woman gave birth in a car while on the way to the hospital in Carlton County Friday. According to the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, officers received a call around 5:57 a.m. from Justin Jahr stating that he was on his way to the hospital as his wife was in labor. He asked to meet a Carlton County ambulance at their station.

2 Killed In Head-On Crash In Cloquet

Two people died after a head-on collision in Cloquet late Thursday night. Minnesota State Patrol said 54-year-old Fay Dahlman, of Alborn, and 49-year-old Mark Laine, of Saginaw, both died.

Cloquet Man Acquitted Of Murder Conspiracy

A man accused of conspiring with his ex-wife to kill her current husband has been found not guilty on all counts against him by a jury in Carlton County. Prosecutors alleged John Edwin Bemis III planned with his former wife, Marie Margaret Majerle, to fatally shooting her estranged husband, Richard Majerle, in January 2013. He survived the gunshot wounds that his wife admitted inflicting.

Hunter Accidentally Shoots Himself In Carlton Co.

Sheriff’s authorities say a hunter has died after accidentally shooting himself while in his deer stand in Carlton County. The victim is identified as 69-year-old Robert Duane Peterson of Nowthen. The man’s son says he dropped off his father at his deer stand in Automba Township about 6 a.m. Sunday.

Long-Eared Bat Could Be Endangered

A disease infecting the northern long-eared bat could place it on the endangered species list. The disease, called white-nose syndrome, has impacted bats in a number of states. Rich Baker, endangered species coordinator with the Department of Natural Resources, says a large number have died off.

18-Year-Old Arrested For Esko School Bomb Threat

An 18 year old is in the Carlton County Jail after being arrested for writing a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of Esko School on Tuesday. According to the Carlton County Sheriff’s office, Eddie Michael Edwards is suspected of leaving a written threat that was found around noon on Tuesday in the K-12 school. The building was evacuated, and everyone moved to a nearby church while bomb detection dogs were dispatched. The FBI was also involved in the situation.
