Prince Fans Rave After Paisley Park Concert

Prince put on a quite a show at his Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen on Saturday night, to hear the reviews from fans outside afterward. The concertgoers said that Prince took to the stage for about two hours and played songs that weren’t necessarily limited to greatest hits.

Disaster Aid ‘On The Way’ After Fast Minn. Session

On Monday, Governor Mark Dayton signed an emergency bill into law, sending disaster aid to Minnesota counties hit hard by a week of severe summer storms in June. Eighteen Minnesota counties – including the largest, Hennepin County – were hit by high winds, torrential rains and widespread flooding during the five days of storms. Damage was heavy in the southeastern part of the state, where lawmakers – including Republican Rep. Greg Davids of Preston – thanked Minnesotans for their help.

Money Magazine Ranks Chanhassen As ‘Top 10 City’

A Twin Cities suburb has bragging rights Monday after being named one of the top cities to live in America. Chanhassen was ranked 4th by Money Magazine for cities with a population under 50,000. The city has been in the top 10 before, and ranked as high as number two a few years ago.

MN Woman Defeats Brain Injury, Completes 1,300-Mile Run

A Minnesota woman finished a 1,300 mile run Thursday night. It started in April, when Allyson Loisel-Murray left Galveston, Texas and wrapped up Thursday night in Chanhassen. All along the way, Murray raised awareness for traumatic brain injuries and stroke prevention.

State Sen. Ortman Considering Challenge To Franken

Republican state Sen. Julianne Ortman says she is “seriously considering” a challenge to Sen. Al Franken next year. Ortman tells The Associated Press on Monday that it’s a tough decision she’ll make after discussions with her family and political advisors in the coming weeks. The state senator from Chanhassen has been discussed as a possible candidate but she had not publicly addressed the speculation until Monday.
