Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota
When they heard kids saying, “There’s nothing to do around here,” some educators and parents of small children in southern Minnesota couldn’t exactly disagree. So about ten years ago, they started laying the groundwork for what is now the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota.
The Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota has finally opened after a decade of planning and fundraising. The doors first opened Friday after construction began last year on the permanent $5 million home in Mankato.
Brick by brick, stone by stone, work continues on the new Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota. But as quickly as the museum building takes shape, severe flooding left a home with few belongings.
The site of Minnesota Vikings training camp every summer, sports viewing opportunities abound in Mankato. But if sports aren’t your thing, plenty of shopping, dining and recreational activities also exist.
