A 17-year-old boy has been sentenced to over 16 years in prison for taking part in the brutal beating of a St. Paul man last August, the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

A 15-year-old boy has been sentenced to more than a year in a juvenile facility after admitting to taking part in a brutal beating two months ago that left a 26-year-old St. Paul man with serious brain injuries. On Tuesday, Ramsey County Juvenile Court Judge Mark Ireland sentenced the teenager, who has not been named due to his age, to a 103-month stayed adult sentence, 18-24 months in a secure juvenile facility and he’ll be under enhanced supervision until he turns 21.
One of the four juveniles who were accused in a brutal beating that put a 26-year-old man in the hospital with serious injuries in August will stand trial as an adult. Cindarion De’Angelo Butler, 16, was among the youths arrested after 26-year-old Raymond Widstrand was assaulted on August 4.
