If you see a new Ferris wheel-like structure in northeast Minneapolis in 2014, it’s not for a carnival. It’s part of new restaurant. Leslie Bock, owner of Psycho Suzi’s, has submitted plans to open Betty Danger’s Country Club, which will feature a “vertically revolving patio” as a seating option.
When your motto is making “freaky fast” deliveries, the last thing you need to see are orange barrels and detour signs. It’s been a tough summer for Jimmy John’s delivery driver Joshua McClain. “The way [the] highway is is just stopping our business from getting here,” McClain said. “So I’m not getting in as many hours of work. And I mean, just to get anyplace, period, 694 is a highway that everybody uses.”

Brian Kary, MnDOT’s Director of Freeway Operations , says rush hour is generally considered between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., but varies depending on the corridor.
A section of Highway 62 will be closed both ways as crews demolish the Penn Avenue Bridge. According to MnDOT, both directions of the crosstown will close between Highway 100 and I-35W at 10 p.m. Friday night. Eastbound Hwy 62 to France Avenue will remain open for hospital traffic only.
An Elk River sinkhole has the left lane of westbound Highway 10, just east of Main Street, closed, MnDOT said. Crews are working and the lane is expected to re-open by 4 p.m. Friday as the pavement needs more time to set because of the hot weather.
The City of St. Paul has started to make way for its newest ballpark along 5th street in Lowertown, near Highway 52.
By this time in the season, we’re used to seeing construction cones and detours. Starting Sunday, there’ll be some new changes along 35E. According to MnDOT, crews will shift north and southbound traffic on the freeway between Cedar Avenue and the 35 split. It’ll be single lane, head-to-head traffic for the next two weeks. During that same time, 35-E ramps to County Road 11.
Get ready for some major traffic trouble Monday. That’s when a five-month road project begins on Interstate 694 — one of the busiest roadways in the north metro.
Expect delays in both directions as I-35E in Burnsville will be reduced to a single lane as crews repair concrete pavement, MnDOT said. The work is between the I-35/35W/35E split and Cedar Avenue. One-lane traffic begins at midnight on Friday, June 14, and won’t open back up until mid-July.
