Minnesota Timberwolves small forward Corey Brewer has been fined $5,000 by the NBA for violating the league’s anti-flopping rules for the second time this season. The punishment was levied on Monday.
Aaron Brooks scored a season-high 26 points to pick up the slack for the injured James Harden, and the Houston Rockets beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 112-101 on Saturday night. The Rockets led throughout, and Omri Casspi, Jeremy Lin and Brooks made consecutive 3-pointers in a 9-0 run to start the fourth quarter and extend the lead to 91-74. Harden, who leads the Rockets with 24.2 points per game, sat out with a sore left foot. Lin started in his place and scored 19, but it was Brooks who shined.

Love leads the NBA with 29.7 points per game and is second with 14.7 rebounds per game. He powered the Wolves to three victories last week for their first 3-0 start since 2001. His off-balance, one-handed bank shot at Madison Square Garden on Monday night helped the Wolves hold off Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks. The league also issued Love a warning for flopping in the game against the Knicks. Love was warned for flopping when Knicks rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. bumped him at the top of the key in the fourth quarter.
The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday that forward Chase Budinger had successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and is out indefinitely. It’s the same knee that Budinger tore the meniscus cartilage in last November, causing him to miss most of last season.
Corey Brewer has tried everything in his career to put some weight on his 6-foot-8 frame. He has lifted weights, changed his diet, even indulged in deep fried Snickers bars at the Minnesota State Fair early in his career to try to add a little bit of bulk to a comically skinny body.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a trade with Oklahoma City for guard Kevin Martin that also allowed them to land swingman Corey Brewer in free agency. The Wolves agreed to terms with Martin on a four-year contract worth nearly $30 million last week.
The Timberwolves acquired forward Anthony Randolph, center Eddy Curry, cash considerations from the New York Knicks and a 2015 second-round draft pick from the Denver Nuggets, in a three-team deal Tuesday.
