The Mower County Sheriff’s office says there was a possible cougar sighting Wednesday. A resident notified the sheriff that they took pictures of a “large, cat-like creature” near Udolpho Township in the county’s northwest corner.
Using a trail camera for the first time on recently purchased land in Buffalo County, Wis., an outdoorsman came up with pictures of a wild roaming cougar.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says a photo of a cougar taken in Juneau County is legitimate. The agency says two DNR wildlife biologists verified the photo, taken by a trail camera Sunday night.
