At least five people died in crashes on icy highways as 1 to 2 inches of snow fell across much of southern Minnesota this weekend.
Following a fatal crash Sunday morning in the northwest metro, a section of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 closed to traffic.
The Minnesota State Patrol says a 15-year-old boy driving a stolen school bus has crashed into a pickup truck on a northwestern Minnesota highway and injured himself and two others. Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow says the sideswipe wreck happened early Sunday in Clay County’s Ulen.
A 32-year-old St. Cloud man was taken to the hospital by a passerby after crashing his SUV into a Wright County ditch.
The State Patrol says it’s investigating a crash in Wright County that left a 52-year-old Annandale woman dead. The crash happened just after 7 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Highway 55 and Oliver Avenue, just west of Annandale. A Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Susan J. Williams, was going north on County Road 3, which becomes Oliver Avenue.
Police in the northwest metro say a 28-year-old man died after he sped off from an officer trying to pull him over and crashed into a brick sign.
Police believe a man who they say caused a crash in Monticello Township over the weekend was driving while intoxicated and without a valid license. The crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening along County Road 39 near Aetna Avenue Northeast.
Police are investigating after a child who was walking to school was struck by a car in St. Paul Monday morning. The incident happened before 7 a.m. near the intersection of Hoyt Avenue and Rice Street in St. Paul.
A 27-year-old St. Cloud man is dead after a dune buggy crash Tuesday morning, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Joel Brott says the victim, identified as Luke Lietha, rolled over his dune buggy in a farm field on the 7200 block of 54th Street SE at about 1:18 a.m.
Four people were injured after their limo was struck by two vehicles in the southeast metro. The accident happened Friday night just after 9:30 in Cottage Grove, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The limo was traveling southbound on Highway 61 and was making a left turn onto Kingsboro Trail to enter Zywiec’s Haunting Experience.
One person died in an accident on Highway 10 in Anoka County Thursday. According to the State Patrol, the accident occurred in the westbound lane of Highway 10 and Armstrong Boulevard in Ramsey, Minn.
The Crow Wing Sheriff’s Office says that a 47-year-old man was killed in a rollover crash over the weekend. Authorities were called to County Road 159 about five miles east of Brainerd on Saturday evening after another motorist saw a vehicle rolled over in a ditch.
Officials say a 31-year-old man died Friday evening following a crash in central Minnesota where he lost control of his car was broadsided by another.

A Minneapolis woman was seriously injured after hitting another vehicle head-on on Interstate 35W early Friday morning. According to the accident report, Claire A. Jacobson, 56, was traveling south in the northbound lanes when she struck 32-year-old Janessa J. Sturtz, of Minneapolis, who was driving north in the correct lanes.
