Dakota County Goes High Tech To Fight Crime

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office has created a Electronic Crimes Task Force, dedicated to solving crimes on the Internet, such as a recent “swatting” incident in Woodbury. Captain Jim Rogers says the problem continues to grow and change. “Back in 2003, a 20 or 40 gigabyte hard drive was big, now we are talking about terabyte hard drives,” Rogers said.

Propane Tank Explodes Near Rosemount School, No Injuries

No injuries are reported after a propane tank on a fiery truck exploded near a Rosemount elementary school. Rosemount Police Chief Mitch Scott says the tank exploded just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday at a construction site near the city’s downtown.

Charges: Homeless Man Burglarized Eagan Mosque

A 26-year-old Minneapolis man is accused of breaking into a safe at an Eagan mosque and taking money from it because he needed financial help and wasn’t getting it, according to charges filed Wednesday in Dakota County Court. William Allen Mattingly was charged with second-degree burglary in connection with the incident.
