Good Question: How Effective Is The Endangered Species List?

The DNR announced Monday that the bald eagle, gray wolf, snapping turtle and 26 other animals and plants would be off the state’s endangered species list. It’s the first change to the list in 17 years. Richard Baker, the endangered species coordinator for the Department of Natural Resources, argues that it’s very successful. He calls the case of the bald eagle the perfect example.

Bald Eagles Make Strong Comeback Along Mississippi

One of our national symbols is making a comeback along the Mississippi River. For years, the bald eagle had been nearing extinction due to pesticides. But things have changed for the better. Paul Labovitz with the National Park Service says the experience of seeing a bald eagle is one filled with awe.
