Shakopee Shooting Victim ID’d

Authorities have released the name of a man who was fatally shot in Shakopee. The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office identified the victim Thursday as 32-year-old Aaron James Moran of Shakopee. The medical examiner says Moran died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Burnsville Police Believe Missing U Of M Woman Could Be A Homicide Victim

Burnsville police said they’ve recovered evidence that leads them to believe that Anarae Schunk, the University of Minnesota student who’s been missing for a week, may have been the victim of a homicide. Burnsville authorities conducted numerous searches of various locations in connection with trying to locate Schunk, and police have obtained several items of evidence as a result.

Patrol: Head-On Crash In S. MN Kills 4, Including 11-Year-Old

A Friday night head-on collision just outside of Montgomery, Minn., killed four people, including an 11-year-old, according to the state patrol. Montgomery is 50 miles southwest of the Twin Cities. Authorities said Jeffery Miller, 22, of Le Center, was driving east on County Road 26/Lexington Road around 10 p.m. Friday when his car collided head on with a westbound traveling vehicle.

Police: 1 Dead, 1 Injured After Shooting In Mpls.

An early Saturday morning shooting on Franklin Avenue left one man dead and one in the hospital. Police were called to an area near 21st Avenue South and East Franklin Avenue, and that’s where a fight broke out about two hours before bar close.

2 Men Charged In New Hope Shooting Death

Two men were charged with first-degree murder in the killing of a Fridley man as he sat in his car in a New Hope parking lot back in June. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said Friday that 29-year-old Damin Lee Shufford, of New Hope, and 20-year-old Adaiah Deontraie Townsend, of Crystal, were charged in the June 26 shooting death of 59-year-old Kent Lee Walker, Jr.

Patrol: Car Hits Portable Message Board In Fatal Accident

The state patrol is investigating a fatal one-car accident in Anoka County after it crashed into a portable message board on the passenger’s side. Passenger Peggy Koecher, 48, of Stacy, Minn., died after the car veered off the right side of the road around 7 p.m. on Tuesday while traveling northbound on I-35W at County Road 14.

62-Year-Old Man Dies After ATV Crash In N. MN

A 62-year-old Maple Plain man is dead after his ATV crashed into a wide load tractor trailer late Monday night near Grand Rapids in northern Minnesota, the state patrol said. According to the patrol, Brian Johnson was going southbound on Highway 65 just south of Pengilly, Minn., when he crossed over and collided with the wide load trailer that was going northbound in the other lane.

St. Cloud Police: Man Arrested After 72-Year-Old Woman Stabbed To Death

St. Cloud police are investigating after a 72-year-old woman died early Saturday morning from multiple stab wounds. Authorities were called to the scene at 3:58 a.m. on Saturday at the 400 block of 33rd Avenue South. Lois Arlene Omeara was found dead, and Dean Allan Friese, 52, of St. Cloud, was arrested and booked at the Stearns County Jail on homicide charges.

Hennepin County officials have identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a bus this week as a 64-year-old St. Louis Park man. Mark Gregory Best was killed Friday evening in downtown Minneapolis. He was in the crosswalk at the time.

Patrol: Semi Driver Killed In Fiery Golden Valley Crash

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash involving a semi that left a plume of smoke over Highway 55 on Friday morning in Golden Valley. The state patrol said the incident took place at Highway 55 and Boone. One is dead, and the status of the other driver is unknown. The semi truck had reportedly burst into flames.

Jack Zahr came to St. Thomas Academy out of college 36 years ago and ascended to the job of athletic director. Eleven days ago, a massive stroke left the 58-year-old in hospice care. The school’s leader died on Tuesday night, leaving an institution in shock, and a legacy not soon forgotten.
