Big Crane To Help Build New Vikings Stadium

A big crane is coming to help build the Minnesota Vikings new stadium. The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority and Mortenson Construction say one of the largest cranes in the world will be used to help build the $1 billion stadium. The crane will start arriving at the construction site in downtown Minneapolis Monday morning. The crawler crane will arrive in 70 truckloads over 10 days. When assembled, the crane can lift up to 1,250 metric tons.

Woman Struck, Injured By School Bus Near Target Field

A woman is in the hospital after being struck by a school bus in downtown Minneapolis early Thursday afternoon, according to police. Shortly after noon, the woman was hit by the bus near the intersection of 3rd Street North and 2nd Avenue North and was trapped underneath for a period of time.

As New Apartments Pop Up In Mpls., Vacancy Rate Doubles

It seems like everywhere you look downtown, a new condo or apartment building is popping up. But now, the vacancy rate is going up, too. Minneapolis-based Marquette Advisors reported the vacancy rate for apartments in downtown Minneapolis at 5 percent at the end of March. That’s up from the 2.2 percent vacancy rate at the end of March from last year.

New Light Rail Station Opens At Target Field

It’s being called the Grand Central Station of Minnesota. The newest light rail station opened Saturday at Target Field in downtown Minneapolis. It will serve as a hub for the light rail as well as Northstar trains. Commuters can also connect to bus routes and bike trails there.

Minneapolis Police are investigating a shooting early Saturday morning near downtown. Police received reports of shots fired in the area of 15th Street and LaSalle Avenue at about midnight.

Police: 1 In Custody After Downtown Minneapolis Stabbing

One person is in custody after a stabbing in downtown Minneapolis early Tuesday morning left one person injured, according to police. Minneapolis Police were called to the Loring Towers Apartments at 15 East Grant Street at about 1 a.m. on a report of a stabbing.
