Minneapolis Gearing Up To Fight For The Super Bowl

The New York Super Bowl was largely a success, and there’s already talk of more cold-weather cities for future Super Bowls. Michele Kelm-Helgen is part of Minnesota’s official Super Bowl bid committee, which was announced last week. She got an inside look at what a city needs to win the big game. “I think our venue is going to be able to compete with anyone,” Kelm-Helgen said.

Len Druskin Restructures, Closes Several Twin Cities Stores

Twin Cities fashion retailer Len Druskin will close several stores in the coming days and weeks in a restructuring effort. In an email by Michael Druskin, president of Len Druskin, Inc., the company will close three of its nine locations in the Twin Cities – all three of which are located in Gaviidae Common in downtown Minneapolis. LD Len Druskin and LD Blues will close on Sunday, Jan. 26, and Len Druskin Man will close sometime in February.

Tattoo Lovers Flock To Mpls. Convention

There’s a different kind of art convention in downtown Minneapolis this weekend. Tattoo artists, supply vendors and people who want to get some ink will be at the Hyatt Hotel all weekend for the Minneapolis Tattoo Arts Convention. A one-day pass is $20, but kids 12 and younger get in free. The show is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Embarrass Residents Warm Up In Hell’s Kitchen

A downtown Minneapolis restaurant decided to do something nice for a community that’s feeling the cold even worse than the Twin Cities. Hell’s Kitchen offered free brunch and Bloody Mary’s Saturday for any residents from Embarrass, Minn. The restaurant decided on the promotion because temperatures in Embarrass are reaching the same level as those registered by the Curiosity rover on Mars.

Authorities ID Epic Nightclub Shooting Victim

Authorities said a 27-year-old Minneapolis man was shot to death inside a downtown nightclub early Sunday morning. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office released the victim’s name Tuesday morning. He was identified as Tyrone Washington Jr. of Brooklyn Park.

Police Concerned About Retaliation After Downtown Shooting

Police are concerned about retaliation after a 27-year-old man was shot and killed in downtown Minneapolis. It happened early Sunday morning inside Epic, a nightclub in the warehouse district. Authorities said about two thousand people were in there when the shooting happened.
