East River Road
A firefighter was injured in a hit-and-run rollover crash Wednesday afternoon in northeast Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Fire Department says the accident happened near East River Road and Marshall Street Northeast.
A convicted murderer was taken into custody Tuesday evening after a standoff at a Fridley apartment building, Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek said. According to Stanek, Eugene Ryan Boos, 42, was taken into custody after a standoff that lasted over five hours.
A crash has injured at least five people early Friday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash happened at about 4:16 a.m. on Interstate 694 on the ramp to East River Road.
The University of Minnesota has issued a crime alert after an attempted armed robbery took place near the East Bank campus Thursday night. Police say the incident happened at about 9:45 p.m. near the intersection of Harvard Street Southeast and East River Road.
A body was removed from the Mississippi River on Sunday near Riverfront Park in Fridley, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s office. Authorities say the body of an adult male was spotted by a person in a canoe at 2 p.m. near the river’s shore, close to the 5200 block of East River Road. The body was recovered by the Anoka County dive team, and turned over to the Anoka County Medical Examiner’s office. The sheriff’s office says no foul play is suspected.
Traffic restrictions are slated to begin Monday night on westbound Interstate-694 between East River Road and Highway 100 in Brooklyn Center, the Department of Transportation says. The restrictions were supposed to set in Sunday night, but equipment problems prompted a delay.
In broad daylight, and within full view of a busy stretch of East River Road, a group of seven young men struck two joggers totally at random.
Police are looking for as many as six or seven Somali men after two joggers were randomly attacked in Fridley. Authorities said two joggers were the victims of what are being labeled as random attacks on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and 3:50 p.m.
