I honestly believe the Wild had Tuesday night’s game won until a questionable hooking penalty on Erik Haula put Chicago on the power play in the last five minutes of a tie game. That shift in momentum was just what the Hawks needed.
For this year’s Wild team, home ice advantage isn’t just a saying you’ll hear on their TV commercials, it’s really happening.
The first two games they played at Xcel Energy Center this year were shutouts, and on Saturday they killed Tampa Bay by a score of 7-2. There’s no question the Wild seem to do better in St. Paul where they’ve got 18,000 screaming fans in their corner.

And thanks to a pair of Finns, the Wild got that victory on home ice, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0. Chicago now leads the series two games to one with Game 4 on Friday night.

Erik Haula and Mikael Granlund scored goals less than 3 minutes apart early in the third period, and the Minnesota Wild recovered from a sluggish start for a 4-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinal series.
Erik Cole scored on a breakaway with 4:49 to play, and the Dallas Stars rallied to defeat the Minnesota Wild 4-3 on Saturday night. Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen was injured in a collision with the Wild’s Erik Haula at 6:37 of the third period. Newly acquired goalie Tim Thomas earned the win in his Stars debut in relief.
The 8th annual Hockey Day Minnesota took place on Saturday starting with a trio of high school games in Elk River, Minn. That was followed by a game at Mariucci Arena between Ohio State and Minnesota, with the nightcap taking place at Xcel Energy Center between the Minnesota Wild and the Dallas Stars.
Nate Prosser scored his third career goal at 2:42 of overtime, lifting the Minnesota Wild over the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Saturday night. Prosser netted the winning score for the second time in as many games, and Darcy Kuemper stopped 33 shots. Erik Haula and Ryan Suter also scored for the Wild. Ryan Garbutt and Alex Chiasson scored for the slumping Stars, who have only one win in their last nine games. Kari Lehtonen made 16 saves.
The final count is in for the Minnesota men’s hockey team. The Gophers have lost five players early to the pros.
Adam Wilcox made 23 save and Erik Haula had a goal and two assists Saturday as Minnesota beat Bemidji State 4-3 to earn a share of the MacNaughton Cup.
