Little Falls Homeowner’s Interview Played At Trial

A Minnesota man on trial for killing two teenagers after they broke into his house had been lying in wait in his basement with a book, some snacks and two guns, a prosecutor said Monday in his opening statement. Byron Smith, 65, of Little Falls, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder in the slayings of 17-year-old Nick Brady and 18-year-old Haile Kifer on Thanksgiving Day in 2012.

Teen Gets Life In Prison For Killing Friend’s Grandmother

The Willmar teenager who pleaded guilty to killing his friend’s grandmother has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. Brok Junkermeier, 19, admitted to choking and then stabbing Lila Warwick at her home on July 29, 2013. He had hatched a plan with her grandson to steal her money. He described his actions in court last week. He said after he forced her to write a check to him, he strangled her for 20 minutes. After that, he got a dagger and started stabbing her because, as he confessed, “I didn’t think she was dead.”

2nd Guilty Plea In Elderly Woman’s Stabbing, Killing

A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty in a 79-year-old Willmar woman’s stabbing death, according to the Kandiyohi County Court. On Wednesday, Brok Junkermeier specifically pleaded guilty to first-degree premeditated murder in connection to the late July 2013 incident.

Minneapolis Man Convicted In Murder Of 13-Year-Old

A 27-year-old Minneapolis man was sentenced Wednesday to life without parole for his role in the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy in 2011. Kemen Lavatos Taylor was convicted on nine criminal counts, including the first-degree murder of Rayjon Gomez, 13, and the attempted murder of two of Gomez’s teenaged friends, according to Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman.

Minn. Man Accused Of Killing 2 Faces New Charge

A man accused of killing two young women is now facing a sexual assault charge in Anoka County. Alberto Palmer had been charged with premeditated first-degree murder in the death of 18-year-old Brittany Clardy. Her body was found Feb. 19 in a car at an impound lot.

Man Gets 2 Life Sentences For Murdering Wife, Unborn Child

A Dakota County jury convicted a 37-year-old Apple Valley man Tuesday morning of murdering his wife and their unborn child after 10 hours of deliberation. The court found Roger Holland guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the March 7 incident.

Teens Charged In Murder Of West St. Paul Man

Three teenagers were charged Friday with first- and second-degree murder for the death of a West St. Paul man in January. According to the Dakota County Attorney’s office, 19-year-old Donovan Michael Diego, 17-year-old Christino Andres Rosario and 18-year-old Malik Jamal Alize Farmer are accused of shooting and killing 31-year-old Luis David Reyes-Galvan during an attempted robbery and burglary on Jan. 11. The complaint alleges that the teens planned on robbing Reyes-Galvan with guns they had acquired in a burglary in West St. Paul on Jan. 10. The teens first knocked on the Reyes-Galvan’s door, and after no response, they waited in a nearby vehicle until he arrived.

Third Man Convicted In 2011 Minneapolis Murder

The third suspect in a 2011 Minneapolis robbery that turned deadly was convicted of murder on Wednesday by a Hennepin County jury. Nisius McAllister, who had been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with an August 2011 shooting in the Little Earth community of Minneapolis, was convicted on both counts.
