Minnesota Vikings practice squad quarterback Chandler Harnish has a foot injury that will keep him out for at least several weeks. Coach Mike Zimmer said Harnish was inadvertently stepped on by a teammate in practice Wednesday. Harnish saw a foot specialist and was diagnosed with a Grade 1 Lisfranc sprain. The Vikings were planning to try out other quarterbacks for Harnish’s spot.
Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith has left the game against Carolina with an injured left foot. The team says his return is doubtful.
A boy is in the hospital Saturday night after playing with friends on train tracks. According to BNSF Railways spokeswoman Amy McBeth, the accident happened around 6 p.m. on the tracks near Fillmore Street Northeast and Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis. McBeth says it appears the boy was either trying to jump on or off of a moving train.
