There’s nothing strange about seeing someone in a mask on Halloween, unless you’re a bank teller and one of the masked men has a gun. The FBI said three men in masks robbed the TCF Bank in Fridley on Friday night.
Three men, one armed with a gun, are still at large after robbing a Fridley bank Thursday evening. According to the FBI’s Minneapolis field office, three men entered the TCF Bank at 52050 Central Ave. NE at 7:00 p.m. All three approached the main counter and demanded money. One man was armed with a handgun. The robbers left with an undisclosed amount of money and fled southbound on Central Avenue. Witnesses believe they were in a gray passenger vehicle. All three men wore black masks. Two were wearing dark clothing, while the third wore a white jumpsuit.
A body was removed from the Mississippi River on Sunday near Riverfront Park in Fridley, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s office. Authorities say the body of an adult male was spotted by a person in a canoe at 2 p.m. near the river’s shore, close to the 5200 block of East River Road. The body was recovered by the Anoka County dive team, and turned over to the Anoka County Medical Examiner’s office. The sheriff’s office says no foul play is suspected.
Fridley police are investigating a possible stabbing at a pizza restaurant. Authorities said it happened at The Z-Z-A Factory on University Avenue Northeast, and added that the victim called to report the possible stabbing. The extent of his injuries are unknown.
Officials with Xcel Energy said power was knocked out more than 12,000 customers in the north Twin Cities metro late Thursday morning and crews are working to restore it.
