A Fridley man is charged with the attempted murder of his fiancée after cutting her throat Saturday morning, according to the Anoka County Attorney’s Office. James Mitchell Bruins-Ahlers, 22, was charged Tuesday with one count each of attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault and domestic assault.
Police officers subdued a 22-year-old man who began to cut his own throat after he was suspected of brutally assaulting his girlfriend Saturday. Fridley Police responded to reports of a domestic situation at 6373 Pierce St. NE, and encountered 22-year-old James Ahlers, who began to cut his throat before officers intervened.
Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a car Wednesday afternoon in Fridley. It happened around 1:30 p.m. after a man exited a bus on the east side of University Avenue near Mississippi Street, according to Fridley Police.
Minneapolis, New Brighton and Fridley police departments are asking for the public’s help in identifying two armed men who may have robbed two gas stations in the past week. The first robbery happened at 5:45 a.m. last Friday at a New Brighton gas station near Silver Lake Road and West River Road East, according to Minneapolis Police. Investigators think the same men may have robbed a Fridley SuperAmerica at 5667 University Ave. NE on Thursday morning, also at 5:45 a.m. A shot was fired during Thursday’s robbery, but no one was injured.
In broad daylight, and within full view of a busy stretch of East River Road, a group of seven young men struck two joggers totally at random.
Police are looking for as many as six or seven Somali men after two joggers were randomly attacked in Fridley. Authorities said two joggers were the victims of what are being labeled as random attacks on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and 3:50 p.m.
Authorities still want to know what happened to a man who was found early Saturday morning in Fridley with serious injuries.
A 28-year-old Fridley man is accused of child neglect after falling asleep on his couch while his daughter drowned in a bathtub in their Fridley apartment, according to charges filed Friday in Anoka County Court.
