Man Faces Felony Charge In Connection With Dinkytown Disturbances

A fifth person was booked in connection with the Dinkytown disturbances Saturday night. Michael Conley Juberian, 22, was charged with allegedly being armed with a dangerous weapon and allegedly assaulting a peace officer.

Minnesota Advances To Frozen Four

Justin Kloos scored twice and Adam Wilcox made 24 saved shots to help top-seeded Minnesota beat St. Cloud State 4-0 on Sunday in the NCAA West Regional final. Minnesota (27-6-6) will face North Dakota in the Frozen Four semifinals in Philadelphia on April 10. Boston College will play Union in the other semifinal.

UMass-Lowell Beats Minnesota State-Mankato 2-1

Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves and Joe Pendenza scored a short-handed goal in the first period in UMass-Lowell’s 2-1 victory over Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday night in the NCAA Northeast Regional semifinals. UMass-Lowell (26-10-4) will face top-seeded Boston College on Sunday for a spot in the Frozen Four. The Eagles beat Denver 6-2 in the first semifinal.

Minnesota Beats Robert Morris 7-3 In NCAA West

Minnesota earned the top overall seed in the NCAA tournament with strong goaltending and a balanced offense. The Gophers used the same formula Saturday night to advance to the West Regional final. Nate Condon scored twice and Adam Wilcox made 22 saves to help the Gophers beat Robert Morris 7-3.

Frozen Four To Return To St. Paul For 2018

Minnesota will host more Frozen Fours. Xcel Energy Center was named the site of the 2018 men’s hockey championship, which also came to the arena in 2002 and 2011. The Gophers have served as the host for the national semifinals and title games eight times previously, with the last six in St. Paul.

In a matter of hours, forward Drew LeBlanc of St. Cloud State won the Hobey Baker Award – given to the nation’s top college hockey player – and signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.
