Minneapolis City Council member Gary Schiff says he will formally announce his intentions to run for the city’s soon-to-be open post for mayor.
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak said Thursday afternoon he won’t seek a fourth term in office. Rybak made the announcement at a news conference at the Midtown Global Market.
Now it’s the Minneapolis City Council’s turn to debate and vote on the Vikings Stadium proposal.
Gary Schiff of the Minneapolis City Council has made it very clear he’s against the current bill for a new Vikings stadium in Minneapolis.

They’ve come up with plans to build a new Viking stadium. But leaders from the Vikings, Minneapolis and the state of Minnesota need to sell their new stadium deal.
The bill will likely go to lawmakers next week. It puts the new stadium in the same space as the Metrodome. Governor Mark Dayton called it “The People’s Stadium” on Thursday.
