Goin’ To The Lake: All Summer Long
All summer long, ‘CCO took you on a road trip to Minnesota and western Wisconsin lakes. Along the way, we discovered great vacation destinations for your family and had a little fun, too.
On Friday, the two took part in the Legends and Logging Days festivities. That event is the the biggest one on the town’s calendar every year.
July is almost over, and Minnesotans are finally enjoying some glorious summer weather. We’ve been celebrating the season by Goin’ to the Lake every week.
Matt Brickman and Kim Johnson celebrated Independence Day in a lake-side town in the heart of Minnesota’s cabin country, Osakis. The day prior, the two enjoyed Minnesota-made whiskey, fishing for walleye and getting ice cream at the town’s go-to spot, Tip Top Dairy Bar. On Friday, Matt and Kim got to be part of the community’s Fourth of July celebrations.
On Thursday, Chris Shaffer and Esme Murphy headed up to the Brainerd Lakes Area to ride horses, cruise Gull Lake and take on a massive burger challenge at Hassies Saloon and Eatery. It’s all part of WCCO’s Goin’ To The Lake: All Summer Long event. Each week, familiar ‘CCO faces are going out to the lake until the start of the Great Minnesota Get-Together.
Even when record rains are falling, WCCO makes it to the lake. This summer, until the start of the Great Minnesota Get-Together, we’re highlighting communities in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. This week, Mike Binkley and Angela Davis ventured to Stockholm, Wis.
Until the start of the Great Minnesota Get-Together, WCCO is “Goin’ To The Lake” every week. In the last trip, Amelia and Mark ventured up north to the town of Biwabik, where they got a taste of the Iron Range. This week, Liz Collin and Lauren Casey headed to Worthington in southwest Minnesota, about 175 miles from Minneapolis. Check out all the things they did in the videos below.
Thursday had Amelia and Mark working for their dinner on the Iron Range, but Friday held its own adventures. The two were up in Gilbert, which is about 200 miles north of Minneapolis. Their first stop was at the Whistling Bird, which brings the taste of the Carribean to the Iron Range.
In previous years, WCCO-TV has gone to lakeside cities in Minnesota and western Wisconsin in week-long trips. But this year, WCCO-TV reporters and anchors, along with your favorites from WCCO Radio, will be making trips every week to lakes around the state until the start of The Great Minnesota Get-Together.
