Fresh numbers from the Minnesota Department of Education show an increase in students graduating high school on time.
An unassuming building on the east side of St. Paul is home to one of the best high schools in the nation — Twin Cities Academy. It was ranked 42 on the list of the nation’s top 500 schools by Newsweek Magazine. The rankings are based on how well they prepared students for college. TCA received a college readiness score of 97.25
Nearly 80 percent of Minnesota’s high school seniors graduated last year, the highest number in the last 10 years. That’s according to a report released Wednesday by the Minnesota Department of Education. State education officials said Minnesota’s graduation rate went from 77.6 percent in 2012 to 79.5 percent last year.
