A Coon Rapids church is facing a lot of criticism for changes made at its cemetery. The Church of the Epiphany updated its rules for decorating grave sites. Families had to remove all items for fall clean-up by Oct. 15 or maintenance crews would pick up the items and throw them away.
About 50 brass flower vases were stolen from Mahtomedi grave sites over the weekend and authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating them, and in identifying the suspects involved. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mahtomedi reported that the 50-some 10-inch tall and 4-inch wide vases are each valued at $200. They went missing on Saturday and Sunday.
Not wanting to take too much credit, Peter Taunton says hundreds of others would have done the same thing.
