Former Hastings Priest Found Not Guilty Of Sex Abuse

A former Hastings priest accused of sexual abuse was found not guilty on Tuesday. The 64-year-old was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a former altar boy at a Hastings Catholic Church from 1989 to 1991.

Dakota County Goes High Tech To Fight Crime

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office has created a Electronic Crimes Task Force, dedicated to solving crimes on the Internet, such as a recent “swatting” incident in Woodbury. Captain Jim Rogers says the problem continues to grow and change. “Back in 2003, a 20 or 40 gigabyte hard drive was big, now we are talking about terabyte hard drives,” Rogers said.

2 Charged In Separate Infant Deaths In Dakota County

Two people were charged in Dakota County Friday in separate cases involving the deaths of infants. The Dakota County Attorney’s office charged 46-year-old Paul Richard Sandell and 63-year-old Janet Marie Kartheiser with one count each of second-degree manslaughter.

Two Hastings men are accused of prostituting an underage girl as a form of payment in a drug deal, according to charges filed in Dakota County Court. A West St. Paul man is being held on $1.5 million bond in the strangling death of his girlfriend. Marc Bakambia was charged Monday with second-degree intentional murder in Dakota County court in the August death of 24-year-old Dorothy Redd.

A Hastings man was injured in a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon in Trimbelle Township, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
