Authorities: Man Drowns In St. Croix River

Authorities said a man disappeared under water in the St. Croix River Sunday night. Washington County Sheriff’s dispatch said rescue crews arrived at Point Douglas Beach in Hastings, Minn. around 5 p.m. According to officials, Juan Gabriel Diaz, 40, swam out to the buoy line at the beach.

Hastings Family Offers $5K Cash Reward For Info On Killer

The family of the first man murdered in Hastings in 10 years is offering a reward for information that leads police to a killer. Police found 34 year-old Jason Reuter shot to death in his front yard on June 22. Police are still investigating and believe his murder is an isolated incident.

Researchers Confirm New Fruit Fly In Minn.

University of Minnesota researchers have confirmed a new invasive fruit fly in Minnesota. A single adult female known as the African fig fly was discovered in a bait trap in September. The trap was located in Hastings and was being used for annual monitoring of another invasive fruit fly, the spotted wing Drosophila. The university says the new fly specimen was officially identified this week by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

TCF Bank To Close 8 Cub Foods Branches

TCF Bank announced Wednesday that they will close eight branches locating inside Cub Foods stores by the end of March. According to a company spokesperson, the branches affected are located in Chanhassen, Elk River, Forest Lake, Hastings, Lakeville South, Mankato West, Northfield and Rogers. Chanhassen, Elk River and Forest Lake will still have free-standing TCF locations.
