Minnesota Starts Stabilizing Flood-Damaged Highway

Minnesota officials have hired a contractor to start stabilizing a highway closed by flood and mudslide damage. The Minnesota Department of Transportation tells the Mankato Free Press that GeoStabilization International of Grand Junction, Colorado, has begun work on Highway 19.

National Guard Sends Help To Southern Minn.

The Minnesota National Guard is sending 20 soldiers to Henderson, Minn. to assist with flood response. Henderson is among the towns in southern Minnesota that suffered damage due to torrential rains that plagued the state over the last week. The soldiers will provide assistance by watching over flowage channels, levee watch and lift stations.

2 Minnesota Men Held In Nebraska Pot Case

Authorities say a Minnesota man and his son have been arrested after marijuana was found in the trunk of their car. The Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper pulled over the men’s car for a traffic violation just before 11:30 a.m. Monday near the Henderson interchange of Interstate 80 in York County.

2 Cars Go Through Ice In LeSueur County, No Injuries

Authorities said there were no serious injuries after two vehicles went through the ice on a southern Minnesota lake on Friday. The LeSueur County Sheriff’s Office was responded to the accident on Scotch Lake in the rural area of Cleveland, Minn., at about 4:09 p.m. Friday.

3-Alarm Fire Destroys Belle Plaine Barn

A barn was destroyed by a three-alarm fire Saturday evening in Belle Plaine. According to the Scott County Dispatch, the fire was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. on a farm on Meridian Circle. When crews arrived, a large barn was fully engulfed in flames. Several fire departments – including those of Belle Plaine, Sibley, Henderson, Le Sueur and Jordan – responded the blaze.
