Police: Brooklyn Park Man Beats 10-Month-Old Son

Hennepin County authorities have charged a Brooklyn Park man who they say beat his 10-month-old son and left him brain dead. Twenty-year-old Dennis Taylor is charged with first-degree assault.

Minnesota sophomore guard Daquein McNeil has been charged with two felony counts of assault. The 20-year-old McNeil was charged Wednesday and was being held in the Hennepin County jail.

Gophers’ Daquein McNeil Arrested For Domestic Assault

Minnesota sophomore guard Daquein McNeil was jailed Tuesday without bail after his arrest on a felony domestic assault charge involving his girlfriend. McNeil, who was suspended from all team activities pending the investigation, was booked Monday, according to jail records. The Hennepin County attorney’s office had until Wednesday to charge him, spokesman Chuck Laszewski said.

Parking Lot Sex Assault Suspect Charged In New Cases

A man accused of a brutal sexual assault in a downtown parking ramp is now charged with two other cases. Peijan Hodges was charged last week with four counts of criminal sexual conduct after he allegedly followed a woman to her car and raped her. According to new charges — just two hours before that — he attacked another woman in the same parking ramp.

Hennepin County inmates with mental illness, chemical dependency issues and those who are likely to re-offend will have some extra help when they’re released. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday the addition of the Integrated Access Team at the Hennepin County Jail in downtown Minneapolis.

Just hours after the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night at Target Center, a member of the team found himself in legal trouble. According to Hennepin County Jail records, forward Dante Cunningham was jailed at about 6:14 a.m. Thursday on suspicion of domestic assault.

Religious Head Coverings Allowed For Henn. Co. Jail Inmates

Inmates at the Hennepin County Jail in Minneapolis will now be allowed to wear religious head coverings while incarcerated. The announcement about the policy – the first of its kind in Minnesota – was made Thursday by Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek. “I am extremely proud of our current efforts to recognize the religious rights and beliefs of all inmates,” Stanek said. “The addition of this policy enhances our efforts to be more culturally aware.”

A 27-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with selling auto owners fake insurance policies. The Minnesota Department of Commerce says Arlesia Shannell Robinson was arrested last Friday and is now charged with two counts of aggravated forgery.

Gopher Hockey Player Suspended After DWI

An incoming University of Minnesota freshman hockey player has been indefinitely suspended after a DWI arrest Saturday. Gabe Guertier, 18, was pulled over by University Police early Saturday morning. He was detained at the Hennepin County Jail for several hours after being charged with fourth-degree DWI. Gopher mens hockey coach Don Lucia announced Sunday that Guertier would be suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules. His suspension will be re-evaluated in November.

Hennepin County Jail Inmate Dies After Seizure

Authorities are investigating after a female inmate at the Hennepin County Jail died of an apparent seizure Wednesday night. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said the inmate suffered the seizure at about 4:55 p.m. Wednesday.
