Police: 2 Hurt In Minneapolis Stabbings, No Arrests Made

Authorities said two people were hospitalized in a pair of stabbings Sunday morning in Minneapolis and they are seeking information on suspects. Police were called to a report of a stabbing at about 12:43 a.m. on the 1000 block of Currie Avenue.

Tree Trimmer Electrocuted By Power Line In Minnetonka

A power line electrocuted a man Wednesday afternoon while he was trimming trees in Minnetonka, Minn. It happened just after 1 p.m. on Townline Road. A 21-year-old man, who is an employee of a tree trimming company out of Little Falls, was about 30 feet high when he hit a power line.

University Of Minnesota Food Scientist Dies

A University of Minnesota food scientist has died, nine days after he was pulled from a private pool during a Memorial Day gathering in St. Louis Park. The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office said Friday that 48-year-old Koushik Seetharaman died Tuesday at Hennepin County Medical Center. The cause of death was a lack of oxygen to the brain. Doctors believe he suffered a cardiac arrest in the pool.

A 61-year-old who was killed in a crash that happened last Friday was identified. According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, the victim of the crash was Ricky Wayne Anderson, of Buffalo, Minn.

A man is in the hospital Monday night after he was pulled from a swimming pool unconscious. According to authorities, a male in his 40s was swimming in a pool at a private residence in the 2700 block of Ottawa Avenue when someone noticed he was not breathing.

Police are investigating a shooting outside Hennepin County Medical Center that left one person shot. Minneapolis Police say the shooting happened around 12:53 p.m. Wednesday, on the corner of 8th Street and Park Avenue. The shooter allegedly shot at a vehicle before fleeing the scene. A woman inside the car was struck.

A 29-year-old woman will face criminal charges for a fatal crash in Apple Valley last April which killed a 66-year-old man. According to the Dakota County Attorney’s office, Amanda Leanna Schlachter of Apple Valley was charged Wednesday with one count of criminal vehicular homicide and three counts of criminal vehicular operation resulting in substantial bodily harm in connection with a crash on April 6, 2013.

Minneapolis House Fire Ruled Accidental

Firefighters rescued three people from a two-alarm fire at a Minneapolis group home Thursday evening. According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, crews responded to a report of a fire at 2524 Portland Ave. just after 7 p.m., where they found heavy smoke coming from the two-and-a-half-story group home. Crews extinguished fire in the attic, second floor and rear portion of the house.

Woman Hit, Dragged By Truck Near Lake Calhoun ID’d

The woman stuck and dragged by a commercial truck near Lake Calhoun Wednesday is in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center. According to Minneapolis Police, 25-year-old Caitlan Christine Barton was trying to walk across West Lake Street on a green light, when she was hit by a truck. The driver, whose vehicle was initially next to Barton as they waited at the red light, began to turn onto Lake Street from West Market Plaza while Barton began walking.
