The sheriff’s departments from four counties put out thin ice warnings after several close calls on the water this weekend.
As warmer temperatures sweep through the Twin Cities this weekend, Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek is urging people to use caution on area lakes.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Deputies Association has voted overwhelmingly in favor of incumbent Sheriff Rick Stanek’s opponent on Wednesday. Minneapolis Police Deputy Chief Eddie Frizell received 75 percent of the votes, while Stanek only received nine percent. Sixteen percent of votes were to endorse neither candidate.
Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek is issuing an early reminder to be cautious around partially frozen ponds, lakes and other bodies of water. Stanek says no ice should ever be considered safe.
