Twin Cities Premium Outlets near Highway 13 and Highway 77 in Eagan is one of the projects. It’s set to open in August, and has provided jobs to 400 construction workers.
A 71-year-old Chaska man died Tuesday after suffering injuries in a head-on collision on Highway 13 in the south metro. The State Patrol says the crash happened just after 4: 30 p.m. in Burnsville.
Motorists are being advised to seek alternate routes while Highway 13 in Mendota closes for emergency repairs Tuesday. The highway will be closed at 11 a.m. both ways between 2nd Street and Lexington Avenue. The closure is necessary so crews can repair a slope that was damaged during the recent rain.

A young bear disrupted traffic Friday morning in Savage before disappearing into the woods, according to police. Authorities first received reports of the bear at about 5 a.m. when it attempted to cross Highway 13 near McColl Drive. Traffic stopped in both directions to allow the bear to pass.

One man is behind bars after a standoff with police that forced a busy highway to close early Saturday evening. According to Burnsville Police, a man with a sawed-off shotgun entered the Holiday Gas Station on Highway 13 and Nicollet Avenue in Burnsville at 6:15 p.m. The man fired once in to the ceiling, and took two employees hostage. Police arrived soon after, and were able to talk the man down to the point of surrender. The gunman made no demands during the standoff.
The Highway 13 bridge over I-35W in Burnsville was supposed to be closed this weekend but it’ll now stay closed until crews can ensure its safe. That’ll put a kink in south metro traffic to begin the work week. The bridge was just having scheduled painting done, but crews noticed some damage and MnDOT decided to repair it.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has closed the ramp from Highway 13 to northbound Interstate 35W after damage was discovered by crews who were painting the ramp bridge. MnDOT says the closure is a precautionary measure and will allow inspectors to assess damage and determine what repairs are needed.
MnDOT’s urging drivers to plan ahead this weekend due to several road construction projects around the metro. Highway projects include work on Highway 10 between West Main Street/Greenhaven Road and Seventh Avenue.
Authorities said a 68-year-old woman from Orlando, Fla, was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Savage on Monday that involved as many as five people. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash at about 12:10 p.m. Monday on Highway 13 at Dakota Avenue.
