The southbound lanes of Interstate 35, near Northfield, were highly congested Monday morning after a multi-vehicle crash. The Minnesota Department of Transportation said the crash happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. on southbound I-35 near Highway 19, which is the exit for Northfield.
Two people are hospitalized with serious injuries after a head-on collision late Monday afternoon near New Prague. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 18-year-old Justin Nelson of Farmington was driving eastbound on Highway 19, west of Church Avenue, when his 1995 Honda Accord crossed the center lane. Nelson collided head-on with 35-year-old Elizabeth Alvarez of Le Sueur, who was driving a 2000 Chevy Blazer.
A 48-year-old woman from Northfield was struck by a vehicle while walking her dogs Thursday morning and later died at the hospital, according to the Rice County Sheriff’s Office.
