Hockey Day In Minnesota
The act of embracing winter is what makes living in Minnesota bearable. And for many, it means standing alongside an outdoor hockey rink. Thousands of folks are doing just that in Elk River this week, site of the 2014 Hockey Day in Minnesota events. The city was chosen in large part due to the historic Handke Stadium, where organized hockey began in Elk River nearly 60 years ago.
It’s a busy couple days for the Wild! It’s gameday as the Wild take on the Blues in St. Louis. Then, both teams are back on a plane to St. Paul for a back-to-back on Saturday that is the finale of “Hockey Day in Minnesota”. Dan Terhaar has more.
The Gopher Hockey team has a very tough home-stand this weekend against the 4th ranked Denver Pioneers. The Gophers have been struggling at home and Coach Don Lucia tells Mike Grimm they’ll have to play their best.
An exciting week for the Wild. They practice Monday and Tuesday before games against Colorado and St. Louis plus Saturday is Hockey Day in Minnesota!
