Step into any store front along Hutchinson’s Main Street and you’re bound to hear the talk of tough times ahead. At one time, the hometown company, Hutchinson Technology, was the world’s leading maker of suspension assemblies for computer disc drives. But the 46-year-old company is now navigating the tough seas of global competition.
Gov. Mark Dayton says he wants to meet with the chief executive of the Hutchinson company that’s cutting hundreds of jobs in the coming months.
Hutchinson Technology broke the news to its workers Tuesday morning that a number of them will not have jobs.
