A shimmering ice castle creation is returning to Minnesota this winter. Crews have spent the past few weeks preparing the site of the acre-sized icy palace in Eden Prairie’s Miller Park. On Monday they expect to turn on the water, and the ice will start going up.

It’s been years since the Twin Cities has had a big ice castle for people to admire. The St. Paul Winter Carnival used to have one ever year, but now the Mall of America is bringing that tradition back.
When it comes to ice in Minnesota, magical or “one-of-a-kind” doesn’t usually come to mind, but that’s exactly how a new, icy attraction on the way to the Twin Cities is being described.
For the first time since 2004, an ice castle could be coming to the Twin Cities this winter. But not where you think. The Mall of America plans to partner with a Utah-based ice sculpting business to bring a winter wonderland to Bloomington in December.
