Snow Collapses Shed Roof In Wis., 2 Children Hurt

Authorities in Chippewa Falls say heavy snow fell onto the roof of a shed where two young children were playing, crushing them both. Ten-year-old Nelson Nolt and 7-year-old Norma Nolt were hospitalized yesterday in serious condition.

Wildlife Rehab Center Sees Big Increase In Patients

The Twin Cities may be an urban environment, but wildlife still surrounds the area. Living in close quarters can sometimes cause injuries to animals, and that’s where the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center steps in – a non-profit that’s having one of its busiest years ever. For more than 30 years, it’s been the healing sanctuary for sick and injured animals from all over Minnesota. Veterinarian Renee Schott says the center takes in a variety of animals.

At Tail End Of Trans-Pacific Flight, Terror

After nearly 11 hours in the air, the passengers and crew aboard a jumbo jetliner traveling from Seoul to San Francisco were looking forward to a quick and uneventful landing as Asiana Airlines Flight 214 approached the airport from over San Francisco Bay. What they got instead, without a word of warning, was terror, panic and confusion. The Boeing 777 slammed into the runway on Saturday morning, breaking off its tail and catching fire before slumping to a stop that allowed the lucky ones to flee down emergency slides into thick smoke and a trail of debris. Firefighters doused the flames that burned through the fuselage with foam and water, and police officers on the ground threw utility knives up to crew members so they could cut the seat belts of those who remained trapped as rescue crews removed the injured.
