The Minnesota State Patrol is asking for the public’s help in locating the person who they believe tossed a large rock off an overpass in Duluth Sunday night. According to police, 22-year-old Matthew Fijalkiewicz, of Superior, Wis., was driving southbound on Interstate 35W near milepost 253 around 11:20 p.m.when a rock came through his windshield and struck him in the chest.

The Timberwolves announced point guard Ricky Rubio is out indefinitely due to an ankle injury. A MRI taken Saturday showed the injury was a significant sprain.
The sprained left ankle for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is not serious, and the Minnesota Vikings are hopeful he’ll play against Green Bay. Coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that Bridgewater was feeling “a lot better” the day after the injury. The rookie had an MRI test after the game on Sunday, and the tests showed no major damage. The Vikings face the Packers on Thursday night.

The Minnesota Twins plan to bring up left-hander Logan Darnell from Triple-A Rochester to start Saturday against the Chicago White Sox in place of ailing Kyle Gibson. Gibson played long toss from 120 feet and threw in the bullpen Friday. He’ll try to start Tuesday in Kansas City.
The Minnesota Vikings have placed cornerback Captain Munnerlyn, safety Andrew Sendejo and tight end Chase Ford on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp. The other player held out of the first full practice on Friday was wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, who watched wearing a bucket-shaped fishing hat because of a minor foot injury. The team announced his status as day to day.
While Phil Hughes had no chance to get out of the way of a hard-hit chopper from Adam Dunn, it does appear as though he will dodge a stint on the disabled list. The Minnesota Twins’ best pitcher was knocked out of a 5-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox in the fourth inning on Thursday night after being hit by Dunn’s comebacker.
A 33-year-old Minnesota man was injured when an aerial firework went off in his hand Monday evening. According to the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened on 289th Avenue Northwest in Zimmerman at about 7 p.m.
Potholes can be a pain for vehicles, but one Minneapolis man literally feels the pain after an encounter with a particularly nasty pothole Tuesday night. Dustin Duarte was driving on 42nd street East and Minnehaha Avenue at 11 p.m. Tuesday night. The rain made it especially hard for him to see how deep the potholes are.
A routine traffic stop has led to a lawsuit against a Robbinsdale Police officer. Melvin Newbern, a former Gopher’s basketball star, is suing Officer Brian Sloat, claiming the officer used excessive force in an arrest in early 2013. Dash-cam video captured on the morning of Feb. 13, 2013 shows Sloat putting Newbern through a field sobriety test after stopping him on suspicion of drunk driving.
The Minnesota Wild have placed left wing Zach Parise on injured reserve because of a bruised foot. The move was made Saturday. The Wild recalled goalie Johan Gustafsson from Iowa of the AHL to take Parise’s spot on the active roster, but Parise can be taken off injured reserve at any time. Parise has 15 goals and 12 assists in 37 games. He was hurt Nov. 25 at St. Louis and held out of the next game before returning to the ice four days later.
The Minnesota Vikings have ruled out running back Adrian Peterson for their final game of the season. The Vikings announced Saturday they downgraded Peterson from doubtful on the original injury report to out against Detroit Sunday, when the Vikings and Lions will play the last game at the Metrodome. Peterson sprained his right foot Dec. 8 at Baltimore and sat out the following week against Philadelphia.
