Iowa Man Gets 10 Years For Vehicular Homicide

A Kensett man has been given 10 years in prison for a crash that killed a Minnesota man. Authorities say 47-year-old Michael Chodur was sentenced on Monday in Worth County District Court. He’d pleaded guilty in late November to vehicular homicide.

Minnesota Man Charged In Iowa Slaying Has Cancer

A Minnesota man charged with killing his wife in Iowa in 1997 is suffering from prostate cancer and other illnesses and may only have months to live, his defense attorney said Thursday. John Bloomfield’s attorney revealed the cancer diagnosis in asking a judge to let the 73-year-old be released from custody and live at home in St. Paul, Minn.

Police say a newborn missing from a southern Wisconsin home has been found alive at an eastern Iowa gas station. Town of Beloit Police Chief Steven Kopp says an officer checking along an interstate near West Branch, Iowa, found the nearly week-old Kayden Powell on Friday morning.

There’s a moose on the loose in Iowa, and officials said they’ve been able to track its every move because of dozens of calls from curious residents spotting the creature. The state Department of Natural Resources said it’s received many calls over several weeks about a male moose making its way from northern Iowa down south.

John Bloomfield waived his right Thursday in Ramsey County District Court in St. Paul. The 73-year-old has been jailed since his arrest last week at his St. Paul home.
