Apple Valley Man Arrested In Iowa Khat Bust

A 38-year-old Apple Valley man was arrested Tuesday in Iowa for being in possession of an amphetamine known as khat, according to police. Members of a drug task force near Mason City, Iowa, arrested Dayax Abdi Ahmed after he was found to be in possession of several pounds of khat.

Minnesota Man Charged In Iowa Slaying Has Cancer

A Minnesota man charged with killing his wife in Iowa in 1997 is suffering from prostate cancer and other illnesses and may only have months to live, his defense attorney said Thursday. John Bloomfield’s attorney revealed the cancer diagnosis in asking a judge to let the 73-year-old be released from custody and live at home in St. Paul, Minn.

Casey’s General Stores Buying Stop-N-Go Chain

Iowa-based Casey’s General Stores Inc. is buying 24 Stop-n-Go convenience stores in the Upper Midwest. Twenty of the stores are in North Dakota and four are in Minnesota. Casey’s did not disclose the purchase price.
