Twins’ Mauer, Nolasco Play In Minors For Rehab

Fans in Iowa got a chance Wednesday to see two major leaguers in the minors. Joe Mauer and Ricky Nolasco both played for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, the Twins’ farm team.

Cedar Rapids Kernels: Minor League, Major Fanbase

It is a river city and that means it’s been around for a while. It also means it’s probably seen its share of baseball in some form. Cedar Rapids’ latest chapter involves the Twins. The Kernels moved to Iowa from Beloit, Wis. – taking the place of an Angels’ affiliate. Kernels fan David Nelson says its minor league baseball, complete with the minor league feel.

Cedar Rapids Kernels’ manager Jake Mauer sees some similarities between first-round prospect Byron Buxton and his brother – the Twins’ Joe Mauer. The Timberwolves are concerned about Kevin Love’s conditioning since his injury ended his season.
