The Minnesota Vikings have re-signed receiver Jerome Simpson. The team announced the move on Friday. Simpson bounced back from an injury plagued first season in Minnesota in 2012 with a solid season last year. He caught 48 passes for a career-high 726 yards in 2013. At season’s end, Simpson expressed a desire to return to the Vikings, who see him as a legitimate deep threat alongside Greg Jennings and Cordarrelle Patterson in the passing game.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson pleaded guilty Thursday to DWI and careless driving. Simpson was officially charged on Nov. 13, after being arrested Nov. 9 while driving on Interstate 394.
The Minnesota Vikings were a minor inconvenience for the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton tossed four touchdowns to lead the Bengals to a 42-14 victory. Dalton threw just 11 incompletions and was sacked twice to build a 136.5 quarterback rating. Cordarrelle Patterson was the lone bright spot for the Vikings with a 35.8 yard kick return average, 54 rushing yards and a touchdown.
It was another eventful year in local sports with three local professional teams making the playoffs, a high profile coach getting dismissed and a football team having a turnaround season.
The Minnesota Vikings had the game won. Then they didn’t. Then they did. Finally, they didn’t as the Baltimore Ravens scored a touchdown with four seconds remaining to pull off the 29-26 victory Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium. The Minnesota Vikings put forth another poor showing. Even the players that provided the highlights also provided lowlights. The offense never got into a rhythm. The best Vikings defense was the Giants offense at times.
The Minnesota Vikings may not have a quarterback controversy, but head coach Leslie Frazier is non-committal to who his starter will be following their bye. After losing back-to-back games in the final minute of the game, the Vikings defense found itself in a similar situation as the Pittsburgh Steelers moved down the field and got as close as the Viking six-yard line.
The Minnesota Vikings expected to have defensive tackle Kevin Williams and center John Sullivan at practice this week, despite knee injuries. Could a change at quarterback be coming for the Vikings? It has been done before in Minnesota.
Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson has his legs back, which means he can go deep again. “Really it was just rest for me. And then just after that getting treatment and just trying to stay off it as much as possible,” Simpsons said. “We have great trainers here, so they told me the right things to do.” You could see it this summer when he worked out at Larry Fitzgerald’s camp. Simpson looked like he loved the game again, and loved running routes.
