Police Investigate Baby’s Death In N. Minneapolis Home

A 4-month-old Minneapolis baby has died, and officers are trying to figure out how it happened. Minneapolis Police say the child’s mother, Shalynda Raino, called 911 at about 8:50 a.m., saying her baby needed help.

Mpls. Police: Toddler Falls From 3rd Floor Of Building

An 18-month-old boy survived a fall from the third floor of a building in Minneapolis, according to the Minneapolis police. Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder says the incident happened on the 4500 block of Snelling Avenue in Minneapolis. The child was apparently playing peekaboo with an older relative before falling.

Two people are dead after two separate incidents occurred overnight in south Minneapolis. One was shot, the other stabbed. The shooting happened just before midnight Friday on the 2700 block of Blaisdell Avenue South.

At the Hub Bike Co-op in South Minneapolis, lately customers are calling about their new bikes being stolen. “We end up talking to somebody replacing a bike that has been stolen almost every day,” Hub Bike Co-op employee David Meyer said.

Mpls. Police Reveal Preparation For ‘Dinkytown Disturbance’

Minneapolis Police allowed WCCO to see firsthand how officers trained for handling last month’s “Dinkytown Disturbance.” Police say they were far more prepared for last month’s event than they were during the riot in 2003. Each of these police situations occurred after the Gopher men’s hockey team appeared in national championship games.

Good Question: Is It Ever OK To Leave Kids In Cars?

A new survey from Public Opinion Strategies of Washington, D.C. reveals that 14 percent of parents say they’ve left their children alone in a car. For parents of children under three years old, that percentage jumps to 23 percent. The study also found fathers are three times more likely (23 percent) than mothers (8 percent) to leave kids in cars.

Juvenile Shot In North Minneapolis

Minneapolis Police say a juvenile was shot while walking down a north Minneapolis street early Wednesday night. Police spokesman John Elder says the young male was walking on North Lowry and Logan avenues around 6 p.m. when he heard gunshots, and soon realized he had been shot. The juvenile sought help nearby and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A woman suffered critical injuries Wednesday night when she was hit by a commercial truck in a busy shopping center near Lake Calhoun. John Elder, a Minneapolis police spokesman, says the woman had been waiting at a red light at 6:15 p.m., trying to cross West Lake Street.

Police Ready To Help Celebrators Stay Safe On Subzero NYE

Doctors fear a cold New Year’s Eve can create big problems for party goers. Dr. Ryan Fey from the Hennepin County Medical Center says frostbite can strike within minutes. “In extreme cold, you could be looking at frostbite in two to five minutes,” Fey said. People trying to ring in the new year with a few libations can get in to big trouble if they mix it with the extreme cold.
